The Olympia and Athena Jacket - Attaching the Waistband / Part 18
Please note that this pattern (and more!) is available to purchase on my online store
Pin your waistband to your lower bodice, lining up the side seams to match.
There will be an overlap similar to the cuff for finishings.
Sew the waistband using a 5/8” seam allowance and a neutral thread.
The seams will be turned into the waistband and press.
If the fabric you are using is very thick, grade down these seams, press them into the waistband to add stability and structure.
Flip the waistband and pin the edges, sew using a 5/8” seam allowance along the edge of the bodice. It can be helpful here to use a ruler to mark the line before sewing to ensure it runs straight down from the garment.
Trim the excess seam off, close to the stitch line.
Flip to the right side, the pressed seam should overlap the original seam again, the same as the cuff and placket.
Pin in place, check that the seam does overlap the original join in the bodice and waistband as previously done in the cuff and placket and then sew using a top stitch thread.
