The Olympia and Athena Jacket - Back Panels and Yokes / Part 13

PATTERN PIECES 7 (CUT 1) 6 ( CUT 2) AND 9 (CUT 2)

Join side backs to main back panel - wrong sides together using your top stitch thread.

The seams should be on the right side of the garment.

Press open to create a smooth seam.

Cut the back side seams down to 1/4โ€ as shown on both sides.

Fold the longer seam over the short seam, press, pin and sew with the top stitch thread.

BACK YOKE (9) CUT 2 ON FOLD

Pin the WS of one yoke to the RS of the back panel

Sew the seam with a neutral thread at 5/8โ€ and press to open both seams.

Grade the lower seam with the fell stitch down to a 1/4โ€

Then fold the single yoke over so the RS lays on to WS of the back panel

Lay second yoke over the first yoke, pin the two seams together along the seam line.

Sew with top stitch thread

Press the two seams open

Trim the lower seam so that the upper seam can fold over and encase to make the flat fell seam using the top stitch thread.

Baste the shoulders together using a stitch of 5.0 at 1/2โ€ above the regular seam allowance (closer to the edge). Use neutral thread as this will be removed when we sew the shoulders.

*You can also stay stitch your neckline here using a smaller stitch. This will not be removed.
