Marfy 1913 - the final blouse......
Yep 16 degrees and snowing....gritted teeth cold!
When I first planned the blouse sew along, one of my big considerations was which fabrics I would be using, and how they could change the look of this garment dramatically...I knew the style was not for everyone but thought it had so many possibilities...
I decided that for my muslins, a black silk would be very wearable and unexpected, the white charmeuse for the collar blouse would be sweet and casual and a saturated printed silk would be perfect for a evening out..
So off I went to see Alice of Mendel Goldberg, with my pictures and plans...found a silk I was crazy about and she very unexpectedly gifted it to me for my final blouse.
Honestly, I was so incredibly touched by her kindness, its been such a pleasure getting to know her over the last couple of years and I really hope I did this fabric justice. Its not often someone gives you Italian silk just because...
Needless to say it was a dream to sew with, and the colours are gorgeous...perfect for a night out in the spring or summer.
and now I keep thinking this silk would make a perfect wrap dress...I might be heading back to buy myself a couple of yards!
Its been a fun sew along, I've gained five new tops for my RTW fasters wardrobe and each one is different ....so its good start to the year, even if they are all in my teens closets right now.
and I can't believe we are almost into February, I need to start thinking about the skirt sew along, I will have a schedule and thoughts ready for next week.
But first I really want to continue working on my other LFJ, Marfy 3182, I have the unrealistic dream of finishing it this week...hmmm..
Books: The kids got me reading the Divergent Series ...i'm hooked, can't put them down.....(although I am out of books after this, anyone have a good suggestion??)
Music: Itunes radio is fabulous, loving the new feature. Bon Iver radio, non stop all week....
TV: Much to the relief of my entire family Sherlock came back. We cheated and found a way of watching it live from the UK when they broadcast over Christmas but if you have not yet seen it, watch from the beginning...so good!
