Not a whole lot happening over here!

Not a whole lot happening over here!

Its been gorgeous weather here, low humidity, upper 80's, sunny every day, cool nights......

and the doors of my sewing room have been open onto the patio,  so  i've found myself wandering  out there to sit with the kids and play with the dogs way to much to be productive this week.

I keep reminding myself that there is only a month of summer left and sewing will still be there when its winding down....

I did rectify the waistband in Marfy 3094 from last week by drafting a new one, tapering  it to a sharp angle to hug my waist better.  It now needs a new lining and thats not done...

and I also played around  for a while with the proportions and style of the same skirt,  realising that while churning out garment after garment is a great learning experience, it becomes boring....

So I spent a few hours here and there playing around with the unusual pocket design , its not rocket science I know but I felt like I used my brain!

It also gave me a excuse to pull out one of  buys from last year...I am always looking for something different  and I was so happy to find this  last year in Vermont  in one of my favorite fabric stores ....I would love to own this place, its a stunning loft with exposed bricks and antiques scattered around,  its eclectic and very cool.

This is  by a Australian design company called Pippijoe.  Handprinted and organic, made from hemp, its quirky enough to win me over, pea hens are awesome!   The downside is that its only 28" wide, so my two yards were not really enough.  I left off the underside of the waistband and the underside of the pockets, using a black linen instead and made some simple black piping to bring out the details.  It just needs the waistband fitted and lining/hem done now.

and I cut out two more skirts for winter, one in black cashmere and one in red wool crepe..

before realizing today  I am utterly bored with them  all and packed everything away for another time.....

But funnily last week , after posting this picture I got some comments on Pattern review about the blouse I was wearing and then emails started coming in...asking if I could give details on making it.

I actually bought this white one  from Zara a while ago and that inspired me to make a navy blue version which I wear a lot....and I thought it  would be much more fun to make another of these from scratch using a big 4 pattern than make/finish another  skirt. :-)

So thats the plan, a kind of show and tell hopefully, lots of pictures and details .I can always use more of this style top and I am excited to be doing something a little different...

and thats about it, sometimes its nice to be utterly lazy!!

Wishing everyone a lovely week!
