A week in pictures...
What a busy week......so I will cheat with a summary now and a long detailed Camp Couture post next Monday with lots of pictures and hopefully a partly finished jacket or two!
Marfy 2826 so far.....it was a long process to cut and top stitch, add deep pockets and attach without pins or clips as they made dents in the leather but its lined up and on. I left the hem very long as I want to play with proportions next week but it will be above the knee with about four inches of lace below...Its WAY to much leather at the moment, its needs to be much softer, fun and flirty?! Is that appropriate for a 40 something!!?
The back... the zipper will run down to the waist...but I ran out of time and had to leave for Baltimore..
The first day of the Couture jacket class always starts with a trip to Mendel Goldberg Fabrics and as I could not decide between two boucles I I bought them both to make two jackets this week...same pattern, different colours. Its the Khalje fairy dust...she makes you think you can do anything :0)
Navy blue boucle, almost a black but with some sparkly bling woven through..
and the exact same boucle but in bright red, its gorgeous!
There were no linings that I really wanted at Mendel, so jumped on the subway for a quick trip to B&J Fabrics and looky what I found there....
A Cavalli silk charmeuse...its even better in real life. This is matched to the blue jacket.
and a subtle Italian silk charmeuse water colour for the red. I thought the coat had enough wow!
The pattern took a a day of adjustments but its at a workable point so both jackets are cut out and thread traced..
All the lining is attached..Can you see the shape of the center back piece, its crazy!
and they are quilted.
So tonight I have lots of threads to knot off and cut, before I will baste the shell's together ready for another fitting first thing tomorrow.
I have so much to fit into the next three days....but I am hoping to have the sleeves on and will then bring them home so I can dye the linen and burlap for the trim and start the long process of beading.
Its been a amazing week so far, truly cannot recommend it enough!
Wishing you all a wonderful week..
